Balance the Spirit, the Body will follow

Treatments

I have a great deal of experience working with muscular injuries and mechanical conditions of the back and major joints, I currently practice from a Spa in West London and treatment centre in North London.  Mobile treatments, ie home visits can be arranged subject to location, traveling time etc.

I can help guide you to choosing the correct treatment for you.  A consultation is required before starting treatment to ascertain your existing health and fitness levels.  All treatments are fully insured via EMBODY.

    Therapeutic Massage

Tuina - Chinese Medical Massage for                                                Frozen Shoulder, Lumbar Pain, Sciatica and Neck Pain

Tuina is a technique developed in China over thousands of years, and is a popular treatment in Chinese Hospitals for the above conditions.  Tuina uses the same principles as Acupuncture in its method of treating and is similar in some ways to Western style Osteopathy.  The patient is fully clothed or covered with a towel during treatment, and no oils are used unless treatment is in conjunction with cupping or gua sha, (other traditional Chinese medicine techniques see below).

My Tuina training took place in The Yunnan Provincial Hospital of TCM in Kunming, China last summer, under the tutorship of Dr Yang and his colleagues.

    Hawaiian Style Lomi Lomi

A lovely technique developed mainly in Hawaii & South Pacific, linked to the ancient practice of Kahuna.   The Lomi Lomi technique frees the mana (qi-like energy) allowing it to flow freely into the spaces cleared by the massage strokes, thus facilitating the bodies own natural healing processes.

Lomi Lomi is deeply relaxing, or it can be dynamic and energising, dependant on your preference.  Whichever way you chose, it is emotionally as well as physically releasing.  In my style of Hawaiian massage, I use rocking and pulsing techniques which can also be nurturing and comforting.  A fragrant oil; Manoi oil is used throughout.

     Cupping Therapy

Cupping, another ancient eastern therapeutic art.  Traditionally using bamboo cups heated by water to be applied to the skin, to create a vacuum over the local area.  Today we used smooth glass cups which are heated for a few seconds only to create the vacuum and then applied.  This draws blood and toxins out of the muscles to the surface where it can be more easily dispersed by the body.  A useful and effective technique when treating colds and muscular pain.

  • good for any type of muscular pain
  • good for treating colds

    Hot Stone Massage

Deeply relaxing, literally melting the tension away.  I use volcanic basalt rocks, smoothed by mountain streams over millions of years, these rocks are porous and as such soak up the negative energies from tired and aching muscles.

  • especially good for frequent travellers, suffering jet lag.

  • muscular stress and tension

  • good for relaxation

    Chakra Balancing

A Chakra is a spinning vortex of energy in your body.  In a healthy, balanced person the chakras spin away happily, however the stresses of modern life, illness and unbalanced emotions can disturb or block the spinning flow of energy.  Vibrational healing, using crystals can help redress the balance, and unblock the negative energy caught up in our chakras.

Crystals work in a metaphysical way; on the premise that everything resonsants at a particular frequency or vibration.  Specific crystals correspond to and share the same frequency to each chakra and are able to interact with them, rebalancing or unblocking.

I usually use the crystals to tune up the chakras towards the end of a Hot Stone treatment.

  • for people feeling out of sorts

  • boosts energy

  • brings clarity to the mind

     Indian Head

A really great treatment that can leave you feeling more deeply relaxed than a full body massage.  Great for people suffering from work related stress in shoulders, neck and occipital area (base of skull.)  Clears the cobwebs from the mind so you feel more focused.  I use facial acupressure points at the end of the treatment to relax facial muscles reducing that tense look which can also help relieve blocked sinusus.

  • good for stress headaches

  • clears the mind enabling you to focus

  • good for insomina

  • good for relieving muscular tension in shoulders and neck

  • good for those that are unable to lie down on their fronts

  Thai Foot Massage

Based on a mix of ancient chinese acupoint  theory and reflex zones, Thai foot massage treats the whole body and works by stimulating meridian channels, much the same way as acupuncture works.  It is also very relaxing and a real treat for your feet.
